MISSION STATEMENT

MISSION STATEMENT

"Our Mission is to bring all communities in West Texas together to commemorate our common bond of freedom through the recognition, celebration and historic conservation of Juneteenth in West Texas and to promote literacy for a more self-reliant society."

GOALS

Our major objective is to establish our (STARS) Center to carry out our literacy programs. We will have adult literacy programs that will aid adults in achieving their career goals and help to establish family unity. We will have computer literacy programs that will teach adults and youth the basic computer skills they must possess in order to advance in today’s technological society. We also plan to incorporate a youth literacy program to assist parents and their children with ideas and solutions to help their child/children have a successful and fulfilling college education and life. Through our youth literacy program, our objective is to raise self-esteem, increase career advancement, address youth who are at risk and find solutions, increase health and wellness, help the youths set career goals, which will cut down on government dependency and aid underprivileged communities in economic well being. The Juneteenth West Texas Organization believes these issues are the basis of a healthy community.

Our Long-range objective is to unite West Texas communities by hosting our annual Youth Enrichment Festival. This festival will be a fundraiser for our organization’s Youth Enrichment Scholarship Program and our literacy programs we will host throughout the year.

With the assistance of our all volunteer board and generous donors and supporters, we have established our Youth Enrichment Scholarship that we will award yearly in June to a young man or lady who can show academic ability as well as a financial need.

In the future, we also plan to establish a Memorial Fund that will assist people who have lost loved ones who did not have insurance or who had insurance but it was an inadequate amount of insurance to cover their burial expenses.

Purpose

Our organization was formed to provide resources and support to underprivileged communities through literacy program and promoting family and community unity. We are located in an underprivileged community that has a lot of problems that we as an organization would like to improve as well as aide the people in West Texas by providing resources and giving them the support they need so they can better themselves. Most of our assistance and support will go to the people who reside in west Texas but we will not limit our assistance to those who reside in west Texas. Our organization is willing to work and reach out to all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age or sex.

Our organization is run by an all volunteer staff. No one from our organization will benefit financially from any donation we receive or any money we raise. This organization is not established to benefit anyone who serves on our board of directors or our committees. It is established to benefit the world. We feel that if we can help others succeed than it will help our world succeed. Our organizations success depends on our dedication and the support of our donors.
